Three new champions were crowned at Riot City Wrestling’s Key to the City, held at the Latvian Hall in Wayville, SA on 22 October.
Demi Bennett became the new Women’s Champion, and the Rude Ones (Marvel & Bulldog) won the brand-new Tag-Team titles.
Bennett was already booked for a match between herself, Savannah Summers and Quinn Beauregard for the Number 1 Contender’s spot for the Women’s Championship.
However, the match was changed to a title match, when then-Women’s Champion Miss Fortune vacated her title on the night, due to injury.
19-year-old Bennett is now a two-time RCW Women’s Champion.
The Rude Ones were the winners of a tag-team tournament to crown the inaugural RCW Tag-Team Champions.
The masked duo of Marvel and Bulldog McKenzy defeated the #BESTOS, Kellyanne and Adam Brooks in the tournament grand final.
The Rude Ones defeated Mat Diamond and Robbie Eagles of Light Speed Express in the semi-finals, and the #BESTOS defeated the Bruiserweights, Carlos Diaz and Kurt Baron.
The RCW Championship number one contender’s match between “The Blue Chip Athlete” Dean Brady and Matt “Grimm” Basso ended in a no-contest when RCW Champion Big Brodie Marshall attacked both contenders.
General Manager Tom Byrne responded to this attack by announcing that Marshall will face both Brady and Basso in a Hardcore Match at next month’s Battle for Supremacy.
Marshall had also quickly defeated Tony Toro earlier in the night.
“The Difference” Tyler Daniels won the “Key to the City” ladder match, defeating Cadie Tré, Zak Sabbath and Green, and earning the eponymous Key.
Daniels can now use this Key to automatically challenge for the RCW Championship, whenever he chooses to use it.
